Applications for the 2018 Short Flix Festival have now closed.
A group of young people aged between 15 and 24 will participate in the project - a joint initiative of Go Goldfields and the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund.
Participants of the Short Flix Festival will have an opportunity to tell their own stories, through a series of film making workshops to be conducted by a team of industry professionals.
They will participate in every facet of filmmaking including directing, acting, scriptwriting, cinematography, lighting and camera operating.
Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said it was an exciting opportunity for young people living in the Central Goldfields Shire.
“A key part of this project is to provide capacity building opportunities for young people to develop their creative skills and lead the way into a positive future, by working and collaborating with experienced professional film makers.
“As part of the program young people will produce a series of short films which will be shown publicly at a celebratory Premiere Gala event to be held at Maryborough Paramount Theatre on October 13.”
Local businesses are also being encouraged to support the Short Flix Festival and local aspiring filmmakers by becoming a sponsor, donating a prize, mentorship, coaching or by attending the Gala event in October.
Short Flix Festival Coordinator Suzi Cordel said it would be wonderful to see our local businesses supporting our local youth and helping them to achieve their long-term goals in this creative industry.
