Maryborough Municipal Olympic Complex Conservation Management Plan

Central Goldfields Shire Council endorsed the Draft Maryborough Municipal Olympic Complex Conservation Management Plan at an Ordinary Meeting of Council on Tuesday 22 May.

The Draft Plan, which was developed by a Heritage Victoria approved contractor, provides Council with a detailed assessment of the complex and recommendations for a staged plan for works that will ensure the restoration and conservation of the precinct in the future.

Council will be applying to the Living Heritage Grants Scheme to undertake some initial conservation works and prepare a detailed design of the works identified in the plan.  External funding support will be required to undertake the priority works listed in the Conservation Management Plan.

Luke Court reconstruction complete

Works to reconstruct Luke Court in Maryborough are now complete. The project was delivered by our Works team and included upgraded drainage, kerb and channel works and new pavement.

The project was made possible thanks to $95,000 from the Federal Government Roads to Recovery Fund and $60,000 from Council.

Advice to Compost Participations

The upgrade to our compost facility at the Carisbrook Transfer Station is progressing well. Works involve the extension of the compost storage areas and construction of a cover shed.

Due to delays in the construction process, our expected completion date of the upgrade has been extended and stock availability of compost will not be available until late June.

Council will honour Compost Participant vouchers for April, May and June. Once supply has returned to normal customers will be notified. To ensure that all customers are supplied their allocation, once production has resumed bag restrictions will apply.

Majorca Road – road closure

Stage two of Majorca Road, Maryborough upgrade is continuing. The project includes underground drainage, new kerb and pavement renewal.

The section of road, between Cadle Street and Nelson Street is currently closed to allow for excavation works. Works are expected to be complete by the end of May.

The $761,366 project has been jointly funded by Central Goldfields Shire and the Federal Government as part of the Roads to Recovery program.

Inkerman Street upgrade works

Our works team is currently upgrading a section of footpath along Inkerman Street, Maryborough - between Barkly and Raglan streets.

The project also includes a new kerb and channel and the road itself will also be stabilised and reconstructed.

Roadworks are underway and it is expected the works will take a further two weeks to complete. Detours are in place which take motorists into Goldsmith Street, Kars Street and Palmerston Street.
