Central Goldfields Shire’s Short Flix Festival kicks off this week with 12 youth from across the Shire taking part.
A joint initiative between Go Goldfields and the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund, the Short Flix Festival begins on Monday with a three-day intensive workshop at Maryborough Education Centre.
Led by professional filmmakers Indimax Productions, participants will learn essential filmmaking practices such as scriptwriting, editing, camera operation and directing.
Participants will shoot their films on Friday 3 August to Saturday 4 August and Saturday 11 August and Sunday 12 August before presenting their short films at the Short Flix Premiere Screening at Maryborough Paramount Theatre on October 13.
Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said this project gives young people across the Shire an opportunity to tell their stories.
“This is a really exciting project for local young people to tell visual stories while working and collaborating closely with professionals in the film industry. I’m really looking forward to seeing their finished products which will no doubt be creative and thought provoking,” he said.
“One of the aims of the Short Flix Festival is to provide capacity building opportunities for young people to develop their creative skills and lead the way into a positive future by working closely with Indimax Productions.”
