Do you currently receive home support services from Council?

The Central Goldfields Shire Social Support Group have introduced a new Genealogy Group.

Come along and research your family history and learn how to navigate and be guided through the branches of your family tree.

The Genealogy Group will meet every Tuesday from 10am to 12noon, at the Goldfields Employment and Learning Centre, just next to the Goldfields Shopping Centre. Participants are encouraged to come for a six week period.

The Genealogy Group is one of many events that feature as part of the weekly Social Support Group program. Other activities include:

Mondays

-          Social Support outings including a meal

Tuesdays

-          Social Support outings including a meal


Wednesdays

-          Centre based activity at Senior Citizens Centre with craft and indoor biased bowls

Thursdays

-          Morning tea at venues around the Shire

Fridays

-          Men’s Out and About group including lunch around the Shire

The Social Support Group program is open to all Central Goldfields Shire residents who are eligible or currently receive services from the Commonwealth Home Support Care Program or the Program for Younger Persons for those aged under 65.

Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey is urging locals to become members of the new Genealogy Group.

“Family history is a topic that is of great interest to many residents, particularly those in their senior years, so I really encourage anyone who is interested to become a member,” he said.
